Leonard Fournette Signs With Bills, Compares Buffalo Cold Weather To 'Penguin's (Butt)!'
The Buffalo Bills this week signed the veteran power running back Leonard Fournette to the practice squad with the obvious intent of eventually bringing him up to the varsity. In the meantime, Fournette - who is from Louisiana and who previously played for the Jaguars in Jacksonville and for the Bucs in Tampa Bay - is making the necessary adjustments to life in Western New York.
Gotta find a place to live. Go check out Niagara Falls. Find a gas station, a dry cleaners, a coffee shop ... And, it seems, buy a coat.
On Thursday afternoon, after his early introduction to the weather in his new home, Fournette fired send out a funny tweet about the chilly conditions in Buffalo.
Fournette wrote, "No lie. Buffalo (is) colder than a penguin (butt) out here, lord.''
Within minutes, Fournette's post gained enough popularity to "go viral,'' with plenty of folks in Bills Mafia proud to point out that on Thursday, the temperatures hovered in the 50's ... meaning "Playoff Lenny'' ain't seen nothin; yet.
Fournette can be excused for needing a minute to adjust, having spent his pro career in the state of Florida after growing up in Louisiana and playing at LSU. But the Bills are prepared to cozy up with him as they search for some additional help behind starter James Cook - who is also from Florida but has of course adjusted nicely to life in Buffalo.
Last season, playing in Tampa Bay after having teamed up there with Tom Brady, Fournette totaled 668 rushing yards, 523 receiving yards and six total touchdowns.
It's not known yet how soon he'll be able to help the Bills, whp will be in Cincinnati this Sunday to face the Bengals. But we're sure somebody will caution Fournette, just in case, that is can also get chill in Cincy.
