Los Angeles Chargers Fire Coach Brandon Staley Prior to Week 16 vs. Buffalo Bills

The Los Angeles Chargers fired head coach Brandon Staley ahead of the Week 16 matchup with the Buffalo Bills.

The Buffalo Bills face the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 16 at SoFi Stadium, and there has already been a major change before their Christmas Eve clash.

The Chargers fired head coach Brandon Staley on Friday after L.A.'s 63-21 loss to the Las Vegas Raiders Thursday night. The Chargers, who came into the game with a dismal 5-8 record, surrendered 21 first-quarter points to the Las Vegas Raiders on Thursday Night Football. And for those who may remember, the Raiders infamously lost 3-0 to the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday.

A lot is going against the Chargers, especially the fact that they are without star wide receiver Keenan Allen and quarterback Justin Herbert. Allen missed the game, and Herbert is lost for the season with a broken finger.

This gives the playoff-hungry Bills a great chance to secure a win on the road next week, but the Chargers may be looking for the best draft position possible.

The Chargers didn't wait to fire Staley until this offseason, pulling the trigger now while the team has some extra time off ahead of their game on Dec. 24 against the Bills.

Report Urges Diggs Trade to Browns

The Chargers have become the third team this season after the Raiders and Carolina Panthers to fire their head coach in the middle of their season. The Raiders won their first game with interim coach Antonio Pierce, while the Panthers lost by a field goal to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers with Chris Tabor at the helm.
