WATCH: Buffalo Bills Extend Lead Over Dallas Cowboys With James Cook Touchdown
In what certainly feels like a must-win game, the Buffalo Bills have come out with the requisite intensity and, subsequently, offensive performance. Just two minutes into the second quarter, they extended their lead to 14-0.
On 1st and 10 from Dallas’ 18-yard line, Allen found running back James Cook in the corner of the end zone for a score.
It was Cook’s second catch of the day and – to that point – made him the Bills’ leading receiver with 42 yards. He’s seen a lot of work on the ground, too, rushing 10 times for 55 yards.
On the touchdown, Allen was immediately forced to his right but unleashed a side-arm sling right next to the pylon. He beat Cowboys linebacker Damone Clark, who appeared to be in man coverage on the play.
In all, it was an encouraging end to a drive against an elite Cowboys defense, furthering the notion that Buffalo can compete with the best of them. Dallas (10-3) has looked fairly tame compared to last week’s explosion over the Philadelphia Eagles. Its playoff spot was certified just before kickoff.
The Bills meanwhile, would love to continue piling on. A win would make them 8-6 with three games to play, bringing their playoff odds to 59 percent, per Sumer Sports.

Expect Cook to continue seeing a heavy workload against a Cowboys defense that hasn’t performed as well against the run as they have the pass. When that pass rush does come into play, though, he’ll be asked to make plays as a receiver, just as he did early in the second quarter.
