WATCH: Buffalo Bills QB Josh Allen Having Fun Again? 'I'm (Bleeping) Back!'
The Buffalo Bills woke up from their recent slump on Sunday, and dominated the New York Jets en route to a 32-6 win at Highmark Stadium. Quarterback Josh Allen had himself a day and got some early rest in the fourth quarter with Kyle Allen coming in late to take some kneel downs that felt much-needed in Western New York.
But the Bills may have not gotten to that satisfying point if not for their star quarterback, who hardly looked like the same guy that had four turnovers against these same Jets in a brutal Week 1 loss.
Maybe he’s loosening up a bit amid a make-or-break point to season while taking in some of the recent words that coach Sean McDermott had regarding “fun.”
After finding Khalil Shakir for an 81-yard touchdown, cameras caught Allen feeling ultra confident on the sideline in Sunday’s win, and it’s clear he’s having some more fun while simultaneously staying locked in.
"I feel like I'm (bleeping) back," Allen said.
Take a look:
Allen finished Sunday’s win with one of his better games in recent weeks. He went 20 of 32 passing for 275 yards, three touchdowns and one pick. He did unfortunately end his streak of rushing touchdowns, as he had found the end zone with his legs in four straight games prior.
After Week 10’s brutal 24-22 loss to the Denver Broncos, McDermott made it seem like he wanted the old Josh back, not the one that’s been clearly frustrated as the Bills have failed to meet expectations.
"He's the leader of our football team, let alone in this case, the offense," McDermott said. "Getting him back to having that look in his eye and having some fun out there and the guy that we have watched over the years but also back at Wyoming. Just going out there and having that joy when he's playing."
Bills Notebook: Confidence, Complementary Football in Joe Brady's Debut
Allen and the Bills face arguably the toughest test of their season when they visit the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday in what feels like a must-win game for Buffalo against the defending NFC champs.
