The Buffalo Bills won't be able to fully rid themselves of receiver Stefon Diggs even after Wednesday's stunning trade.

The Bills are reportedly sending Diggs, and his relentless cryptic social media posts, to the Houston Texans for draft pick compensation. As fate would have it, the Texans will host Buffalo during the 2024 regular season.

Although dates and times won't be available until May, the Bills will face the entire AFC South this upcoming fall. They will visit Houston and Indianapolis while Tennessee and Jacksonville will come to Buffalo.

Already a marquee matchup between reigning division champions, the Bills-Texans now has the potential to become one of the most highly-anticipated games on the yet-to-be-released 2024 NFL regular season slate. It'll be the first time that Bills Mafia sees Diggs in a new uniform after an unexpectedly abrupt departure from Buffalo. It'll also be the first-ever head-to-head meeting between quarterback Josh Allen and Houston's NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year CJ Stroud.

Allen's critics claim Diggs' presence has been essential to the three-time NFL MVP finalist's success, but they fail to recognize that the receiver's four highest single-season yardage totals have come with Allen throwing the passes.

Diggs' performance slipped during the second half of the 2023 season and the boisterous WR1 has come up small in each of the Bills' last three postseason losses. In a 27-24 setback to the eventual Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs, Diggs recorded only 21 yards on three receptions while being targeted eight times. His fourth-quarter drop in Kansas City territory arguably costed Buffalo the chance to win the game.

Reportedly willing to eat more than $31 million in dead salary cap space, the Bills likely grew tired of Diggs' diva-like behavior, including his habit of showing up his quarterback through on-field gestures. It's somewhat fitting that his most-recent social media post, which inferred that he is the primary reason for Allen's ascension to greatness, wound up being his last as a Bill.
