XFL Passing Leader Ben DiNucci Invited to Broncos Camp
The Denver Broncos have invited XFL passing leader, Seattle Sea Dragons quarterback Ben DiNucci, to the team's upcoming rookie minicamp, the league announced Thursday.
DiNucci seemingly confirmed the news on his Twitter account.
A 2020 seventh-round pick out of James Madison, DiNucci, 26, spent two seasons with the Dallas Cowboys, appearing in three games while vacillating between the active roster and practice squad. He was waived by Dallas last August.
Three months later, DiNucci was allocated to the Sea Dragons. The 6-foot-3, 210-pound signal-caller made quick work of the upstart promotion, leading the XFL in attempts (374), completions (272), passing yards (2,671), QB rushing yards (305), and finishing second in passing touchdowns (23) across 10 starts (seven wins). He also tossed a league-high 13 interceptions.
In the mold of ex-Bronco Chad Kelly — that is, a fiery competitor with a live arm and risk-taking prowess — DiNucci would boost the floor of a Denver QB room featuring Russell Wilson, Jarrett Stidham, and Jarrett Guarantano.
DiNucci is the third XFL player invited to the Broncos' minicamp, along with running back Jacques Patrick and pass-rusher Trent Harris. The camp is scheduled to run May 12-14.
