Report: Broncos 'Could Be Active' Ahead of NFL Trade Deadline
Prepare to say goodbye to your favorite Denver Broncos star — because they're (nearly) all on the block.
ESPN's Adam Schefter reported Sunday that Denver is actively fielding calls on several players and "could be active" sellers ahead of the Oct. 31 NFL trade deadline. Schefter noted the team is "willing to listen" regarding "almost any" defensive player after dealing away outside linebacker Randy Gregory last Friday.
The league insider also named starting wide receivers Courtland Sutton and Jerry Jeudy, both of whom were shopped this past offseason, among potential trade assets that are "expected to garner more attention in the coming weeks."
Schefter's report cautioned that a Broncos fire sale is dependent on "how they fare over the next few weeks" and was published prior to Sunday's loss against the Jets, which dropped the club to 1-4, effectively turning the page to 2024.
In other words: Everything must go. Bring on the rebuild.
And with that, the likely departure of several high-profile players who can be sold off for pennies on the dollar, helping Denver stack precious draft capital to aid said rebuild.
Aside from Sutton and Jeudy, those who fall under the "sellable" category include safety Justin Simmons, left tackle Garett Bolles, inside linebacker Josey Jewell, and OLB Frank Clark.
"Sources say Frank Clark has drawn interest around the league," NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported Sunday. "If the Broncos continue to struggle, he could be dealt, as well. ... Several pass-rush needy teams will be watching, and the interest should ramp up if Clark plays well."
