Broncos vs. Chiefs Final Week 8 Injury Report: One Starter Ruled Out
Regardless of how the 2023 season shakes out or whether a rebuild is needed, the Denver Broncos can't suffer the Kansas City Chiefs' 16-game winning streak to persist. It's an absolute embarrassment that has persisted since 2015.
When you've got Frank Clark — who was collecting his paychecks from the Broncos at the time — pumping the brakes on calling Broncos-Chiefs a 'rivalry' because that would assume it's a competitive matchup, the reality of how far Denver has fallen smacks and smarts.
The Chiefs stand in the way of the Broncos turning the 2023 ship around and making something of this season. A loss would drop Denver to 2-6, and grease the wheels of a few trades ahead of Tuesday's deadline.
A win would inject a surge of confidence and momentum through the organization's system that would put adrenaline to shame. The 6-1 Chiefs aren't some invincible monster. This team might haunt the Broncos, but the Detroit Lions have already proven Arnold Schwarzenegger's dialogue in Predator true: if it bleeds, we can kill it.
The Chiefs most certainly do bleed. They can be gotten. But it'll take the near-perfect execution of a Sean Payton game plan that has to be masterful.
Like the NFL, many in Broncos Country will believe it when they've seen it, as this team is yet to produce a complete game in all three phases under Payton. If the Broncos are to emerge victorious, they'll need as many of their horses available for the action. Let's dive into the final injury report for Week 8.
Broncos
Questionable
- Brandon Johnson | WR | Hamstring
Full Go
- Garett Bolles | LT | Hip
- Baron Browning | OLB | Wrist
- Justin Simmons | S | Hip
- Dwayne Washington | RB | Knee
Analysis: Not counting the guys on injured reserve, the Broncos are as close to full strength as they could hope for in Chiefs week. Bolles popped up on the injury report earlier this week, and was limited in practice on Wednesday and Thursday. His full go in Friday's practice means he'll play — barring an unforeseen setback.

Simmons is still nursing that hip that cost him a couple of games earlier this season. With Kareem Jackson serving a two-game suspension, the Broncos can't afford any additional injuries at safety.
Chiefs
Out
- Nick Bolton | LB | Wrist
Full Go
- Harrison Butker | K | Illness
- Mike Edwards | S | Elbow
- Jerick McKinnon | RB | Groin
- Justin Watson | WR | Elbow
Analysis: The Chiefs will certainly miss Bolton in the middle of the defense, but Drue Tranquill is a nice backup option. This puts an even higher priority on the Broncos' need to doggedly establish and stick to the run game.
