Report: Broncos Hire Saints' Declan Doyle as New TEs Coach
Another member of the New Orleans Saints' cabinet is following Sean Payton to Denver.
According to media reports, the Broncos on Wednesday hired Declan Doyle as their new tight ends coach. This, after the team previously tapped ex-Saints assistant Zach Strief as offensive line coach.
An Iowa graduate, Doyle spent the last four seasons as an offensive assistant in New Orleans, working under Payton. He also coached tight ends at the Senior Bowl, exposure that undoubtedly contributed to his career advancement.
Doyle replaces 2022 TEs coach Jake Moreland and inherits a thin but talented group led by Greg Dulcich, who finished his rookie campaign with 411 receiving yards, third-most among all Broncos pass-catchers. Of Dulcich's 33 receptions, 18 resulted in first downs and two went for touchdowns.
The stable also includes fourth-year man Albert Okwuegbunam, the only other Broncos TE currently under contract with Eric Tomlinson, Eric Saubert, and Andrew Beck headed to free agency.
In addition to landing Doyle and Strief, the Broncos reportedly hired Logan Kilgore — formerly Arch Manning's high school offensive coordinator — as a quality control coach and are likely to name longtime Saint Dan Dalrymple as the new strength and conditioning boss.
