Broncos RB Javonte Williams Doing 'Everything They Ask' in Knee Rehab
Denver Broncos running back Javonte Williams remains on track in his recovery from a grievous knee injury sustained more than four months ago.
“I am able to do everything they ask me to do," Williams told Denver7's Troy Renck on Monday.
Williams underwent corrective surgery after shredding his right knee amid the Broncos' Oct. 2 loss to the Las Vegas Raiders. Testing revealed that he suffered tears to his ACL, LCL, and posterolateral corner — a significant malady that requires extensive rehab, which Williams will continue in the Denver area.
"His attitude is relentless, and his attitude is tough as can be. He’ll come back stronger, and he’ll come back better for us," quarterback Russell Wilson said Oct. 4.
A 2021 second-round pick, Williams prematurely concluded his sophomore campaign with 47 carries for 204 scoreless yards, adding 16 receptions for 76 yards.
Williams enters his age-23 season as Denver's presumed lead back — assuming he's physically able to perform — though new head coach Sean Payton is likely to insure the position via March free agency or April's draft.
Williams is among five Broncos RBs under contract for 2023, along with Chase Edmonds, Damarea Crockett, Tyler Badie, and Tyreik McAllister.
