Broncos WR Jerry Jeudy Wants to Wear No. 4 Again 'So Bad'

The number was previously occupied by QB Brett Rypien.

Jerry Jeudy is pining to return to his college roots.

Taking to Twitter on Sunday, the Denver Broncos wide receiver conveyed his desire to switch from jersey No. 10 to No. 4 — the number he rocked as a standout at Alabama.

"But I ain’t paying," Jeudy tweeted.

Per the official Broncos website, No. 4 remains vacant after the team declined to tender free-agent quarterback Brett Rypien, who wore the digit from 2019-2022. However, based on Jeudy's remark, it's possible that another veteran — perhaps one of Denver's several offseason additions — has since claimed the number.

Prior to Rypien, only six players in franchise history donned No. 4: Case Keenum (2018), Britton Colquitt (2010-2015), Micah Knorr (2002-2004), Ruben Rodriguez (1992), Bob Thompson (1987), and Chris Norman (1986).

No matter his numerical classification, Jeudy appears primed to follow up a breakout 2022 campaign as the WR1 in new head coach Sean Payton's offense. And the Broncos could make that official next month by exercising his fifth-year option.

“Really happy with how Jerry finished off the season, especially the last couple of games. We make those decisions, I believe in May, right near the draft," general manager George Paton said in February. "We’ll make that decision. Really happy with where Jerry is at.”
