Key Broncos in Search of Historical Milestones vs. Chiefs
The Denver Broncos play in a man's league. And yet, this team has been relegated to the kiddie table for the past seven-plus years.
It's been by the Kansas City Chiefs' hand that the Broncos have been banished. The Broncos haven't defeated the Chiefs since Week 2 of the 2015 season, while Patrick Mahomes has since brought two Lombardi Trophies home to Kansas City, whose trophy locker now matches the one in Denver.
Time will tell whether the Broncos can snap this ignominious 16-game losing streak to the Chiefs on Sunday and inch back to the adult table in time for Thanksgiving. But there are several individual Broncos approaching serious milestones in Week 8.
Here's what to watch for in Sunday's Broncos-Chiefs action.
Zach Allen in Search of a Sack
Allen needs one sack to become the seventh defensive lineman (fifth active) since 2020 to record totals of at least 15 sacks and 15 passes defended.
Nik Bonitto Needs 1.5
Bonitto needs 1.5 sacks to pull into a four-way tie for the fourth-most QB takedowns (7) this season.
Jonathon Cooper Aiming for a Half-Sack
Cooper needs a half-sack to tie Atlanta Falcons LB Kaden Elliss (9.0) for the most quarterback takedowns by a player selected in the seventh round of an NFL Draft since 2019.
Jaleel McLaughlin can Join Phillip Lindsay
McLaughlin needs one touchdown to become the first Broncos running back since Phillip Lindsay (2018) to tally at least four scores in his first eight career games.
Justin Simmons Hopes to Pick Off Pat Mahomes
Simmons needs one interception to tie DB Mike Harden for the third-most interceptions by a Broncos player (29) in his first eight seasons.
Patrick Surtain II Aims to Break Up the Party
Surtain needs two passes defensed to tie cornerback Kelly Herndon (33) for the most PDs by a Bronco in his first 41 career games.
Courtland Sutton Hopes for a TD
Sutton needs one touchdown to tie his career high in receiving scores (6) in a single season, and he needs 49 receiving yards to become the fifth receiver in the NFL this season to post 400 receiving yards and five touchdowns.
