The Denver Broncos finally unveiled their long-anticipated new alternate helmet on Tuesday. The new design will be worn twice during the 2023 season in the Broncos' two Color Rush games featuring alternate colors.

On Saturday, July 29 (Day 2 of Broncos training camp), fans will get a more in-depth look at the new helmet during the team's Back Together Weekend. Broncos Country will get up-close access to the new alternate helmet in a display case at the team's last training camp practice on August 17.

While the white helmet motif is new, the Broncos have long worn white jerseys and white pants for away games. The helmets have been some version of blue since the 1960s. However, the Broncos featured an orange helmet for a time prior to the transition to blue, and before that, a brown helmet in the original mustard uniform.

The last time the Broncos did a full uniform overhaul, they went on to win the Super Bowl that year in 1997. So, there is an auspicious precedent for team president Damani Leech rolling out something new on the permanent, even if it's only in accompaniment to the Broncos' Color Rush alternate uniforms worn twice per year.

As part of the NFL's 'Color Rush' program, the Broncos tried to bridge the old 'D' helmet design with the newer uniform motifs, and this 'white-out' design furthers that imagery. Fans mostly love the Broncos' Color Rush helmet design, which hearkens back to the vintage D, so the base color being white should offer a refreshing new look for the team as it works to climb out of the NFL doldrums under new head coach Sean Payton.
