LOOK: Broncos Tease First Image of New Helmet Design for 2023
Last week, we learned from team president Damani Leech that the Denver Broncos were "exploring" new helmet/jersey designs. While completely overhauling the unforms/jerseys would take more time, the Broncos are capitalizing on the opportunity to roll out a new helmet design for a couple of games this coming season.
After undergoing surveys with different fan groups, the Broncos seem to have landed on a new helmet design to be rolled out for two games in 2023. The team teased what could be coming with an intriguing Twitter post with the caption "Coming soon."
The helmet would appear to be a "white-out" design, which would be quite the departure for the Broncos. And definitely something new.
The Broncos have long worn white jerseys and white pants for away games, but the helmets have always been some version of blue since the 1960s. This new design hints at a white helmet, but we still don't know what logo design would be featured on the side.
Fan-made helmets and uniform designs are ubiquitous on social media, many of which feature a white helmet, but the actual new two-game motif could end up looking a lot closer to some of Broncos Country's creations over the years.
The last time the Broncos did a full uniform overhaul, they went on to win the Super Bowl that year in 1997. So, there is an auspicious precedent for Leech and company to roll out something new on the permanent. This white design would not be that, though.
As part of the NFL's 'Color Rush' program, the Broncos tried to bridge the old D helmet design with the newer uniform motifs. Fans mostly love the Broncos' Color Rush helmet design, which hearkens back to the vintage D, so it'll be interesting to see what this, for lack of a better term, 'white-out' looks like.
