4 Broncos Poised to Earn Pro Bowl & All-Pro Honors in 2023
The Denver Broncos have struggled mightily to get any players voted into the Pro Bowl or All-Pro teams. In the past three seasons, the Broncos had only three players selected for the Pro Bowl.
With the lack of success post-Super Bowl 50, Denver's talent has been overlooked by fans and analysts alike. However, under the tutelage of head coach Sean Payton, the potential for multiple Broncos to finally get recognized by the masses is exponentially higher this year than in seasons prior.
Here’s a list of Broncos with Pro Bowl or All-Pro potential in 2023.
Russell Wilson | QB: Pro Bowl
After the fever dream that was the 2022 season, Wilson is in a significantly better position to add to his resume. He has trimmed down to a "lean and mean" frame, and his workout regime has been posted all over social media.
Corny or not, the results show. Payton will squeeze all that he can from the former Super Bowl-winning quarterback as he has with less talented signal callers. With a strong body and an offensive guru in his corner, Wilson will earn his 10th Pro Bowl selection.
Jerry Jeudy | WR: Pro Bowl
If Wilson makes the Pro Bowl, his No. 1 receiver will also. For the past three seasons, Broncos Country has waited for Jeudy to break out and solidify himself as a top receiver in the league.
Jeudy's ability to separate from defenders due to his high-level route running will give him plenty of opportunities to get his hands on the football. He will finally live up to his pedigree as a first-round draft pick and earn his very first Pro Bowl nod.
Justin Simmons | S: Pro Bowl & All-Pro
Simmons has earned second-team All-Pro honors twice, but it's time to jump to first-team status. He has been a takeaway machine for the Broncos, with nine in 2022 alone, six interceptions, and three forced fumbles in 12 games.
That trend will continue this year, catapulting him into the All-Pro conversation.
Patrick Surtain ll | CB: Pro Bowl & All-Pro
Only two years into his career, Surtain is the best cornerback on the Broncos' roster and in the NFL. His ability to blanket wideouts, effectively removing any team's most valuable pass-catching asset, makes him an easy lock for his second first-team All-Pro selection.
Surtain was the only Bronco selected for the Pro Bowl last year, and he’ll undoubtedly show off his skills again in Las Vegas. He is easily the single best player Denver has on the roster.
The Takeaway
The lackluster performances that the Broncos have displayed over the past seven years directly contribute to the lack of All-Pro and Pro Bowl nominations. With an adult leading Denver in Payton, the Broncos will finally be ultra-competitive, leading to a bigger spotlight on the talented players that NFL fans have overlooked and underappreciated.
It's time to buck the loser mentality.
