On Tuesday, the Denver Broncos released veteran kicker Brandon McManus, who broke the news of his departure via Twitter.

"The @Broncos have informed me I’ve been released. More to come in the following days," he tweeted.

The team also confirmed the transaction, waving goodbye to McManus following nine seasons.

Undrafted out of Temple, McManus joined the Broncos in 2014 and went on to start 144 games as the primary placekicker. He converted 223 of 274 field goal attempts (81.4%) and 277 of 286 extra-point tries (96.9%). McManus, 31, signed a four-year, $17.2 million extension in 2020.

Once dubbed "McMoney," his reputation has preceded him despite a down 2022 campaign in which he missed eight FGs — including five from 50-plus yards — and two XPs.

The move was declared a post-June 1 release by Denver, which saves $3.75 million against the salary cap, leaving behind $1.231 million in dead money.

As McManus was the lone kicker on the roster, a corresponding signing is likely to transpire in the coming days. Among the available free-agent options: Robbie Gould, Mason Crosby, and Ryan Succop.

The Broncos have overhauled the special teams department this offseason under head coach Sean Payton, hiring legendary assistant Mike Westhoff and new coordinator Ben Kotwica while reuniting with punter Riley Dixon.

Now, McManus is the latest casualty of change.
