Broncos Add Former Rams WR J.J. Koski
The Denver Broncos made an addition to their pass-catching corps, signing former Los Angeles Rams wide receiver J.J. Koski, the team announced Monday.
Linebacker Ray Wilborn was waived in a corresponding roster transaction.
Undrafted out of Cal-Poly in 2020, Koski spent his first three NFL seasons with the Rams, vacillating between the practice squad and active roster. He appeared in five games amid Los Angeles' Super Bowl-winning 2021 campaign and tallied five kick returns (89 yards) and two punt runbacks (20 yards).
As a collegian, Koski (6-1, 195) totaled 2,311 yards and 18 touchdowns across 121 receptions for the Mustangs, earning first-team All-Big Sky honors in 2019.
"It's hard to stand out as a primary receiver in a triple-option attack, but Koski showed consistent improvement in his play and production over the years," NFL.com's Lance Zierlein wrote in his pre-draft scouting profile. "He's durable with adequate straight-line speed and plus ball skills to finish catches in traffic. Teams might view him as an inside/outside option, but his route running and press release have a ways to go."
Koski — who worked out for Denver last week and was signed deep into training camp — likely faces an uphill battle to separate from the crowded pack of reserve WRs, including Brandon Johnson, Marquez Callaway, Lil'Jordan Humphrey, Jalen Virgil, and Taylor Grimes.
