Report: Broncos Sign Ex-Saints WR Lil'Jordan Humphrey
The inaugural roster move of the Sean Payton era involves a former New Orleans Saint. Because of course.
According to ESPN's Field Yates, the Denver Broncos signed wide receiver Lil'Jordan Humphrey on Tuesday, reuniting the fifth-year pro with his first NFL coach.
Undrafted out of Texas in 2019, Humphrey made 18 appearances (six starts) for the Saints, tallying 295 receiving yards and three touchdowns across 16 receptions. He spent the 2022 season bouncing between the New England Patriots practice squad and active roster, limited to 20 scoreless yards on 128 offensive snaps.
"He’s an interesting guy," Patriots coach Bill Belichick said last September. "Doesn’t really fit a mold for a certain position. But he’s a good football player."
At 6-foot-4, 225 pounds, with a 4.75 forty, Humphrey is a classic possession wideout similar to new teammates Courtland Sutton and Tim Patrick. Coincidentally (or not), his addition comes after Denver was said to be "quietly shopping" Sutton during February's Scouting Combine.
In an increasingly crowded room, the Broncos also have a litany of other WRs under contract for 2023: Jerry Jeudy, KJ Hamler, Montrell Washington, Jalen Virgil, Kendall Hinton, Freddie Swain, and Brandon Johnson.
