Report: Courtland Sutton Skips Start of Broncos Offseason Program
Courtland Sutton was not present for the start of the Denver Broncos offseason program Monday, according to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero, who reported the star wide receiver is seeking a new contract.
However, per 9NEWS' Mike Klis, Sutton's absence from the voluntary workouts is related to an offseason ankle procedure and it "doesn't seem like team or Courtland is concerned."
"Team picked up his $2M guarantee option in March. He has been working out daily in Florida," Klis added.
Sutton, 28, is entering the penultimate campaign of his four-year, $60.8 million extension inked in 2021. He has $27.6 million remaining on his deal, roughly $25 million of which is non-guaranteed.
Sutton — a former Pro Bowler and Denver's leading receiver last season — projects as the club's no-doubt WR1 after Jerry Jeudy was traded to the Cleveland Browns in March. The veteran pass-catcher will work with his 10th starting quarterback in seven NFL seasons.
That is, assuming he sticks around.
