DeMarcus Ware Elected to Hall of Fame Class of 2023

Another legendary Denver Bronco has found his way into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

When Denver Broncos fans speak of the Super Bowl 50 Champion team, talk invariably turns to the defense that put the entire team on its back and powered it to Lombardi glory.

On Thursday, the welcome news arrived that former elite pass rusher DeMarcus Ware was to become the 13th multi-seasoned Broncos player in history to enter the illustrious Pro Football Hall of Fame.

For most fans, Ware's enduring legacy will be of a pro career spent mostly in opponents' backfields, for nine years with the Dallas Cowboys, and three more in the Mile High City. Ware's 138.5 career sacks pay testament to his disruptive abilities, but as a whole, his career can be summed up by one word: leadership.

Ware's special relationship he built and enjoyed with teammate Von Miller brought the best out in his younger protégé, and it made him the player he is today. Of course, further on down the line, Miller will most certainly join his mentor in the hallowed halls of Canton, Ohio.

During the Broncos' enthralling rollercoaster ride to their third world championship, it could realistically be argued that Ware was more of a wrecking ball in the playoffs than even Super Bowl MVP, Miller.

Great defenses tend to mature like a fine wine over the passing of time in the recollection of media and fans alike. Ware becomes the first of the Broncos' stellar 2015 unit to get measured up for his own iconic gold jacket, but it’s a lock that he undoubtedly won't be the last.

Fans might expect Miller and cornerbacks Aqib Talib and Chris Harris, Jr. to join Ware in the Hall someday. Maybe.

When further Hall-of-Fame recognition arrives, the Broncos' lethal Super Bowl 50 unit is bound to also push its way even further into the conversation as being one of the greatest defenses to ever suit up in NFL history.

Congrats to D-Ware.
