Denver enters the 2023 offseason with $9.218 million in available salary cap space, 14th-most in the league, according to OverTheCap.com. But several ways exist for the club to create additional spending money — primarily by trimming the fat.

As a quick example: the Broncos can save a combined $26.567 million by cutting cornerback Ronald Darby, offensive lineman Graham Glasgow, and running back Chase Edmonds.

At $35.785 million, they would then boast the fifth-most cap room, more than enough to lure a few big-ticket free agents and plug holes throughout the roster, of which there are many.

The Broncos will be forced to spend to overcompensate for their distinct lack of draft capital, after Paton orchestrated blockbuster trades for quarterback Russell Wilson and head coach Sean Payton in consecutive offseasons. The team owns just five 2023 picks, and won't go on the clock in April until No. 68 overall.

Unless ...

"We could always trade back and get more picks," Paton teased. "We feel good with where we're at."
