Report: Ex-Broncos WR Jerry Jeudy Scores $58M Deal from Browns
Less than two weeks after being acquired via trade — and without having even played a snap for his new team — former Denver Broncos wide receiver Jerry Jeudy now finds himself amidst the league's highest-paid pass-catchers.
NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported Tuesday that Jeudy agreed to a three-year extension worth up to $58 million (or $19.3 million annually) with the Cleveland Browns.
The deal includes $41 million fully guaranteed at signing, tying him for fifth among all NFL WRs, just behind Chicago's D.J. Moore ($41.610 million).
The 15th overall pick of the 2020 draft, Jeudy's tenure in the Mile High City was marred by inconsistency, injuries, and quarterback ineffectiveness. The mercurial 24-year-old made 44 starts for the Broncos, totaling 3,053 receiving yards and 11 touchdowns across 211 receptions. He averaged a 59.3 catch percentage and, despite immense physical talent, failed to record a 1,000-yard campaign.
On March 9, the Broncos traded Jeudy to Cleveland for 2024 fifth- and sixth-round draft selections. The anticlimactic move, which cleared $12.9 million in salary-cap space, gave a fresh start to a player in desperate need of greener — in this case, browner — pastures.
"I heard that the Browns were interested in me even two years ago," Jeudy said after the news broke. "To actually be here, it's a surreal moment. So, I feel like I'm at the right spot because they have been trying to get me for a long time, so I feel like I'm wanted here. As a player, you always want to be in a place that you feel welcomed and want to make it feel like home and want to be wanted. And so having that feeling is great."
