Watch the First Footage of Sean Payton Coaching Broncos on the Field
It's a new day in Denver Bronco land, as the Sean Payton era begins in earnest with rookie minicamp. Once again, the grass at the team's Dove Valley headquarters is bustling with activity as Payton and his coaching staff get to lay hands on the Broncos' 2023 rookie class for the first time and see what's what.
Saturday provided fans with their first opportunity to see Payton coaching the Broncos, complete with a gray hoodie and orange... you guessed it... visor. A few of the attending beat writers, like 9NEWS' Mike Klis and Denver7's Troy Renck, captured the first video footage we've seen of Payton actually coaching the Broncos.
None of the videos available are quite what you'd hope to see in terms of clarity, but then again, Payton is doing his level best to keep the media at bay. The media corps in attendance at Broncos minicamp were set up a goodly distance from the action.
Darren McKee of 104.3 The FAN in Denver was able to get some better footage of the proceedings. It's definitely better than nothing.
Payton is looking to take a Broncos squad that finished 5-12 last season, and has missed the playoffs in each of the past seven years, back to competitive relevance in the NFL. It's been a while since the Broncos meant anything outside of the fan base, but that's going to change soon.
We'll get to hear from Coach Payton and several rookies on Saturday following practice.
