Broncos Offer Support to Grieving Shaq Barrett Family

A member of the Denver Broncos family suffered an immense tragedy over the weekend.

The Shaquil Barrett family is hurting right now. Arrayah, Barrett's two-year-old daughter, passed away on Sunday morning. She drowned in the family's swimming pool.

Pro Football Talk received confirmation from the Tampa police department.

Tampa Police confirmed that they responded to a call of a child who had fallen into a pool at around 9:30 a.m. Arrayah Barrett was taken to a nearby hospital but efforts to revive her were not successful.

The Denver Broncos shared their grief and support for the Barrett family in the face of such tragedy. Justin Simmons was a teammate with Barrett for three years to open his career.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers released a statement in support of Barrett.

“Today’s tragic news is heartbreaking for all members of the Buccaneers family,” the team said via statement. “Our thoughts and prayers are with Shaq, Jordanna and the entire Barrett family during this unimaginably difficult time. While no words can provide true comfort at a time such as this, we offer our support and love as they begin to process this very profound loss of their beloved Arrayah.”

Any parent understands how easy it is to lose sight of an active little toddler. There, but for the grace of God, go I.

Broncos Country's heart aches for Barrett and his wife Jordanna. Losing a child has to be the worst thing that could happen to a human being in this life.

Prayers up for the Barrett family.

Barrett began his career in Denver as a college free agent out of Colorado State back in 2014. He helped lead the Broncos' to triumph in Super Bowl 50 as part of that ferocious pass-rush rotation that so terrorized Ben Roethlisberger, Tom Brady, and Cam Newton.

Barrett departed in free agency in 2019, signing with the Bucs, where he went on to lead the NFL in sacks and win another Super Bowl with Tom Brady at quarterback. Barrett has earned two Pro Bowl selections and a second-team All-Pro nod with the Bucs.
