Freddie Kitchens furious about mistakes against Colts
Despite the 21-18 victory over the Indianapolis Colts, Cleveland Browns head coach Freddie Kitchens focused on the number of miscues the team had. Missed tackles, penalties, drops, issues with snaps and on special teams, Kitchens went into why those problem areas will ultimately cause the Browns to lose games, be a losing team.
When he went into half, he wasn't happy with how it ended, ending on a missed 52-yard field goal attempt. Penalties moved it back to that distance in what should've been an opportunity to get a touchdown or kick the field goal at a far more reasonable distance.
While media members thought the game was a good way to end the week, Kitchens said the game simply ended the week. He was visibly upset and annoyed, fulfilling his duty to answer questions from the media, of which he did fully, but looked like he was far more interested in going back to watch and tape and start coming up with a plan to address the issues.
He did note that a number of the issues were due to rookies and their ignorance for how the game was called in the NFL, but that he wasn't allowing that to be an excuse. Far too many were self infliced and extremely avoidable such as the botched snaps and drops.
All in all, Kitchens got a great outcome in all with this game. The team won while giving the head coach plenty to drive his team with over the next few weeks leading up to their first game against the Tennessee Titans.
