Who's Getting Coop'd This Week? Amari Cooper Gets Ready For the Colts

The Cleveland Browns’ top receiver is making quite an impact this season.

Truth be told, the Deshaun Watson shoulder injury storyline has taken on a life of its own. The moral of the story is that his shoulder is injured and he is day by day in his recovery.

With that said, Amari Cooper sent Browns Nation into a spiral with one tiny quote during his Thrusday availability:

That one quote from Coop sounded the alarms and the social spaces that follow the Cleveland Browns went into full chaos mode. The irony of it all was enough to make you laugh, the quietest Brown on the team breaking the largest news to date.

When he is not breaking news, Amari Cooper is dominating defensive backs on Sundays. Through six games he has amassed 22 catches for 367 yards and one score. He has done all that with three different guys throwing him the ball and truly no consistency at the quarterback position.

Perhaps the best moment from his chat with reporters came when he was asked which Colts defender was going to get “Coop’d” this week. That got a good little laugh from Amari, and not much of a response. But he did acknowledge that he saw how much attention his leaping catch along the sideline received last week and he said he felt that was a fairly routine play.

Of course, he finished the game with four catches for 108 yards. But that acrobatic catch was ranked as the lowest probability catch in the NFL, according to NextGenStats.

Look for Amari to be a focal point of the Browns offense on Sunday in Indianapolis. The Colts secondary is beat up and there will be backups all over the field when the Browns are on offense.

Everyone is holding out hope that Deshaun Watson will be back at the helm for the Browns, Cooper comments on what it would mean for the offense:

“That would be a huge boost. You know, Deshaun is our guy. You know what I mean? At the end of the day, we all know who Deshaun is."

It doesn't matter who is the trigger man on Sunday, we can all count on No. 2 to be at his best.
