Browns DE Jadeveon Clowney Calls Out Coaching Staff, Doubts he Will be Back
Cleveland Browns pass rusher Jadeveon Clowney looks to be waiving the white flag on his career with the team. According to a report, Clowney said he is "95 percent sure" he won't be back next year.
Clowney pointed to needing to be around new people. He was pointed to coaches currently on the staff.
"I just feel like I need to be around somebody that believes in me and my ability,” Clowney said. “(It can’t) just be me believing in myself. I believe in myself more than anybody.”
Defensive coordinator Joe Woods is likely on his way out, which will be only part of the changes that are likely to be made on defense.
Clowney is upset with the matchups he has faced this season.
"You’re all trying to get somebody into the Hall of Fame when all that matters is winning,” Clowney said. “Everybody got here for a reason, and we can all make plays. I know I am."
The matchup Clowney is pointing to is Myles Garrett facing lesser tackles. Clowney has just two sacks this season -- it has been disappointing.
In the reigns waits Alex Wright and Isaiah Thomas ready to play. Clowney pointed to it himself.
"(The Browns) got their own guys, and I ain’t one of them," Clowney said.
It looks like Garrett will need a new running mate to get after the quarterback next year. Look for Sunday against the Steelers to be Clowney's last game with the Browns. The soon-to-be 30 year old free agent will have suitors.
