Browns' Elijah Moore Stayed Overnight In Hospital After Suffering Concussion

Elijah Moore was on his way to a career night for the Browns in their Thursday night meeting with the Jets, before exiting with a head injury in the second quarter

Elijah Moore was turnbèing the Thursday Night Football stage into his own personal show.

Through the majority of the first Moore was on pace to record the best outing of his Browns tenure, wit h five catches for 61 yards and a touchdown. His efforts had help the Browns build a 27-14 lead over the Jets. In an instant, his night was over, after making a 22-yard catch in the final two minutes of the first half and being slammed to the turf face first.

It was evident almost immediately that Moore had suffered a serious head injury as he laid sprawled with trainers rushing to his side. He eventually left the field, went to the team's blue medical tent and then to the locker room. As Kevin Stefanski revealed on Friday, Moore was later rushed to the hospital and spent the night there.

Thankfully, Moore was discharged Friday and is back at home, but he will enter the final week of the regular season in the concussion protocol. It's unclear at this point if he'd be able to play in the Browns season finale against the Bengals. Having played on Thursday night, he will have a couple extra days to potentially make it through the protocol.

"I don't have a ton of other information other than to say that he's doing better," Stefanski said. "He's home. I've been texting him. Those are always scary hits, as we all know. I will say this: I'm very proud of him. He was getting going. I thought the route he ran for that touchdown was outstanding. He's done a great job for us."

Cleveland obviously went on to beat the Jets 37-20 to clinch a playoff berth for the second time in four season, even scoring a touchdown on the very next play after Moore left the game. The offense wasn't the same in the second half without him though, as quarterback Joe Flacco had thrown for 296 yards in the first half, but only registered 13 additional yards in the second half.

Moore's best game in a Browns uniform came back in Week 13 when he caught 4 passes for 83 yards in loss. Cleveland was also missing top wideout Amari Cooper last night to a heel injury. Stefanski is also unsure if Cooper will be able to suit up in Week 18, but did mention he "tried like hell" to play Thursday.
