Browns Experience No Collateral Damage in Victory Over Titans
Injuries have become an expected outcome for NFL teams on a weekly basis. Luckily for the Cleveland Browns it seems they may have avoided any significant injuries during their dominating week 3 performance against the Titans.
The Browns weren’t fortunate at all during the first two weeks as starting right tackle Jack Conklin suffered a gruesome season ending knee injury during week-one that left little doubt about his ability to return this season. He was carted off and it would be confirmed that his injury would end his season less than 24 hours later.
In week 2 against the Steelers, things got even worse as Nick Chubb suffered an injury to his knee that looked so horrific that the broadcast refused to show the replay. Chubb was carted off and not only did we immediately know that his season was over but we also were forced to ponder if he could ever return to the field.
Chubb and the Browns have since received some positive news in regard to his injury and there are hopes that he can return sooner than anticipated but his season is over. In addition to Chubb, cornerback Greg Newsome also suffered an elbow injury in week-two that kept him out of this week's game against Tennessee.
Just because no players left the game with reported injuries doesn’t mean that minor injuries don’t pop up in the days following. We will have to watch for the injury reports on Wednesday to determine for sure.
Currently, the only injuries the team is dealing with are Newsome’s and an ankle injury for backup tackle James Hudson who was also inactive for today’s game. Both appear to be a day-to-day scenario and the team is hoping both are available in a big divisional game against the Baltimore Ravens on tap.
The Browns will have an early bye week after the Ravens game and perhaps they can focus on getting better instead of getting healthier.
