Browns Linebacker to Miss Time With Knee Injury
According to Brad Stainbrook, Cleveland Browns linebacker Jordan Kunaszyk has suffered a torn MCL.
Kunaszyk went down in the first half of yesterday's 33-32 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs. This will certainly keep him out of action for a significant amount of time, most likely the entire season, depending on the severity of the tear.
Kunaszyk was having a good preseason, often seeing reps with the team's first unit on defense at middle-linebacker. He was also expected to be a heavy contributor on the special teams units. He quickly became a favorite of new defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz during the team's offseason program.
Schwartz went as far as wearing Kunaszyk's jersey during one of the first practices, to show appreciation for the work the player had been putting in. He was expected to be a lock to make the Browns initial 53-man roster.
Now with Kunaszyk out, it opens the door for undrafted free agent Mohamoud Diabate to make the team. This could also cause a ripple effect to the practice squad as well, the team will be more likely to add a guy who was on another team's roster in the preseason.
