Digest Notes: Bitonio Family Makes Large Donation, Browns Make Interesting Hire

Recent happenings in Cleveland Browns news include the team hiring an analyst and the Bitonio family making a large donation to his former college.

Cleveland Browns are finishing up their draft boards and preparing for the NFL Draft that takes place in less than a week. Cleveland does not have a first-round pick, but they’ll be active on day 2 in the third round. Leading up to the draft, there’s been a couple of bits of Browns news that may have been swept under the rug.

The Browns made an addition to the organization by hiring Dom Borsani as a football research analyst for the organization. Borsani was a 2023 Big Data Bowl finalist for his entry to determine blitz strategy by data, which you can check out here.

Left guard Joel Bitonio and his wife Courtney are donating $1 million to the University of Nevada for the Bitonio Family Strength & Conditioning Center which will be the new weight room on campus. Bitonio is not only doing good work on the field, but he is off the field as well. There are many who do not realize that Bitonio will certainly be in the Pro Football Hall of Fame one day.

Andrew Berry met with the media for a pre-draft press conference on Friday. He touched on multiple things including that the door is not shut on a return for RB Kareem Hunt. While it is not likely, as the Browns have a second-year guy in Jerome Ford and the draft to add more to the room ahead.

Perrion Winfrey is in Berea with the team despite the recent charge against him in Texas. The team is going to gather more information before there is any judgment there, both Berry and HC Kevin Stefanski said.

Leading up to the draft, Browns Digest will have everything you need from breaking news to each Browns’ picks throughout the draft. We will give thoughts on some picks, and anything else draft-wise you could think of.

Make sure you’re following along on Twitter and Facebook. The team will have it all from different angles throughout NFL Draft week and beyond, just like we have for free agency.

Pete Smith will dig in on the in-depth stuff, and do his part in keeping Browns fans informed and sane through it all. Matthew Wilson will do some featured content and continue to dig in on the exacts of the game.

Noah Weiskopf will have some angles of coverage of the team as well, check out his recent piece on Jakeem Grant. A bit about Grant you will not find anywhere else. Abby Mueller continues to produce the video content and surely will have some draft videos out on the site soon. Be sure to follow on YouTube so you’re not missing any of those. I’ll have all of the news that breaks, as well as some thoughts on the draft, draft grades, and much more.

Recently, Mathew produced an article about the Browns trading up for a player next week. He took a look at three candidates the team could move up for. It’s a good piece that fills you out on three prospects I like quite a bit personally.

Pete had some thoughts on the Greg Newsome II press conference following the report that he requested a trade from the team.

I took a look at a few players the Browns could have potentially targeted if they had their first-round draft pick. While it was cool to think about, none of it matters if Deshaun Watson is the player the Browns think he can be for them for the foreseeable future.

Cleveland currently is set to have eight picks in the draft, don’t be surprised if they look to add more picks in 2024 when they have less. It may be a bit quiet leading up to the draft for the Browns, there will surely be some news around the league that keeps us pushing along.

As we all know, it is not quiet in Cleveland for long. Things will be heated up by next Friday, you can count on it.
