Browns' Myles Garrett Channels His Inner LeBron James After Winning DPOY

Browns pass rusher Myles Garrett earned his first Defensive Player of the Year Award on Thursday night and channeled another Cleveland legend in his acceptance speech.

"Cleveland, this is for you!"

That iconic line from LeBron James the night the Cavaliers won an NBA Championship will live on in Cleveland sports history forever.

On a night that saw Browns defensive end Myles Garrett take home his and the franchise's first ever AP Defensive Player of the Year Award, the 28-year-old decided to borrow that famous line from James.

"To the city of Cleveland, this one's for you!," Garrett said to close out his acceptance speech, after thanking a number of parties from family to the Browns organization for guiding him.

Garrett added one parting declaration for fan though, adding, "we're gonna bring home something bigger next time. Let's go!"

With Browns gearing up for an offseason that will bring about plenty of change to playoff roster, Garrett's message should leave the fan base excited for what's to come from him and the organization as they chase the grand prize of a Lombardi Trophy.

As speculation mounted during the season that Garrett was in the mix for Defensive Player of the Year, the 2017 No. 1 overall pick downplayed the importance of the award. While Garrett may be dreaming bigger for himself, the franchise and the city of Cleveland, bringing home the honor is just another piece of the  puzzle that is a Hall of Fame resume.

Earlier in the season Garrett actually became a minority owner of the Cavaliers, something he said was done with the intention of establishing long-term roots in the city that will go well beyond his playing days. Garrett, like the man he borrowed that aforementioned line from, has already reached rarefied air as one of the greatest players in Cleveland sports history.

If he can actually pull off the same feat as James and bring a championship to this town, it would take his legendary status to a whole other level – as crazy as that sounds.
