Browns Open Up As Road Underdog Against Seattle

After yet another thriller of a win for the Browns, they head to Seattle in Week 8 looking to keep their win streak alive
In this story:

Despite some adverse circumstances surrounding the Browns, they've scratched and clawed their way to 4-2 heading into Week 8.

In each of the last two weeks, Cleveland won games that came down to the final seconds, first over the San Francisco 49ers and then, on the road, against the Indianapolis Colts. A win is a win.

Now, Cleveland packs things up for the first of two west coast trips this season, as they visit the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday.

Despite their recent win streak and the dominant defense that has lifted them to victory these last two weeks, the Browns open up as +2.5 point underdogs ahead of their trip to the Emerald City. That line is according to the SI Sportsbook.

It's an understandable spread to begin the week, given some of the things surrounding the Browns at the moment. For starters, after Deshaun Watson started, then left Sunday's win over the Colts in the first quarter due to a forceful hit, it's unclear if he'll be ready to suit up for Cleveland.

Head coach Kevin Stefanski called the move precautionary in order to protect Watson, who has been dealing with a bruised rotator cuff and hit his head on the aforementioned play. However, when asked after the game if he's start next week, Watson himself stated that he "wasn't sure."

The comment seemed to suggest at the idea that Watson's shoulder will have to be reevaluated this week before a decision is made on his availability. For what it's worth, Stefanski said Watson will be the team's starter moving forward.

It's also not uncommon for a team making a long road trip to the east coast or west coast to be considered an underdog in the eyes of the oddsmakers.
