Browns Re-Signing CB A.J. Green per Report

The Cleveland Browns may be preparing to make their first move of free agency, re-signing one of their own players according to a report.
In this story:

The Cleveland Browns will re-sign restricted corner A.J. Green ahead on the eve of the NFL's legal tampering period according to a report by Jordan Schultz from The Score.

Green has been a reserve corner for the Browns utilized both on the outside as well as the slot since signing with the team as an undrafted free agent. After not being selected in the NFL Draft, the Browns made Green a priority, giving him a contract on the same level as a sixth-round draft pick.

In three seasons with the Browns, Green has appeared in 31 games. 29 of those came in the past two seasons. Green was also utilized a substantial amount on the Browns special teams. Preparing to enter his fourth season, Green will celebrate his 25th birthday in June.

If the reporting is accurate and it's a one-year deal, the value of the contract is likely to be $2.627 million, the amount that was going to be his tender.

In signing Green, the Browns have their top four corners locked up including Denzel Ward, Greg Newsome and Martin Emerson. The Browns also placed a tender on restricted free agent Thomas Graham. Assuming they intend to keep him, the Browns will likely have one more spot on their roster for a corner. Seemingly, that will be focused on filling the role of slot and could be a priority to be addressed in free agency or the NFL Draft next month.

Greedy Williams is set to hit free agency and is not expected to return to the Browns.
