Browns to Start Thompson-Robinson Against the Eagles
The Cleveland Browns announced that rookie quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson will make his first preseason NFL start against the Philadelphia Eagles on Thursday night. For DTR, this will be another chance to shine for a national audience as the game is the only Thursday game scheduled across the league and will be televised on the NFL Network.
During his availability before practice on Tuesday, Head Coach Kevin Stefanski said that Thompson-Robinson will start and that Kellen Mond will play in relief. Backup quarterback Josh Dobbs will not play in the game according to Stefanski.
Thompson-Robinson has impressed in his first two appearances in relief. He has come into games trailing against both the Jets and Commanders and was able to provide an immediate spark for the offense in each game.
He lead a come from behind victory in the second half of the Hall of Fame game against the Jets capping it off with a 20-yard touchdown pass to Austin Watkins Jr. In last Friday's game against the Commanders, he was able to move the offense down the field in his two drives ending in a touchdown pass to David Bell on a 7-yard slant.
Over his first two games, Thompson-Robinson has completed 17-21 passes, for 184 yards and has thrown 2 TD's and 0 Interceptions. With the buzz that has been generated by his play, I believe there will be a lot of fans around the league tuning in to get a good look at our rookie quarterback.
