Browns Working Out Linebacker Charles Wiley
The Cleveland Browns, who have made several roster moves over the last few days are still looking to add players to the roster and are reportedly working out linebacker Charles Wiley today, according to Aaron Wilson.
Wiley (6' 2", 251 lbs) is in his second season and has spent time on the practice squad for both the Giants and Ravens. While he is listed at linebacker the Browns are more than likely considering adding him to their edge rotation and to also play on special teams for the remainder of the preseason.
Wiley has yet to play in an NFL game but played in college at UTSA where he was an Honorable mention All-Conference USA selection after starting all 14 games at outside linebacker during his senior year. He recorded 36 total tackles, 18 solo stops, nine tackles for loss, 3.5 sacks, five quarterback hurries, two fumble recoveries and one pass breakup.
Wiley was an undrafted free agent in 2022, but tested very well athletically, posting a high RAS Score and running a good 40 yard dash. Bubba Ventrone had a history of finding very athletic,UDFA linebackers and have them go on to be a productive member of hi special teams units in Indianapolis.
While this is the only workout that has been reported for today, the Browns will often workout multiple players together. General Manager Andrew Berry is always looking to add talent to the team by turning over the bottom of the roster. We will be sure to update you of any additional reported workouts from today in Berea.
