Browns Workout Five Offensive Lineman
The Cleveland Browns appear to have a keen interest in one position before heading into their bye-week after they worked out a total of five offensive lineman on Friday.
While none of the players are the type that could be asked to step in and play soon, they are more likely project types. It makes me wonder if they have potentially seen enough of Alex Leatherwood and are looking to upgrade.
It may also be them preparing for losing Ty Nsekhe from the practice squad. After being elevated to the game-day roster last Sunday, he can only be called up one more time without having to stay on the 53-man roster. With that said, the team brought in the following five players to get a closer look at:
OT- Chim Okorafor
Okorafor (6-6, 320) is a rookie who spent time with both the Eagles and Vikings during the preseason. He was originally signed by Philadelphia as an UDFA last May. Okorafor was a small school prospect and played at NAIA Benedictine College.
OT- Trevor Reid
Reid (6-4, 297) is a rookie who played his final two years of college at Louisville. Reid spent time during training camp with the Eagles and Falcons. He is an explosive athlete with incredibly long arms. He needs time to develop strength overall especially in his lower body.
OT- Ryan Swoboda
Swoboda (6-9, 315) originally signed as an UDFA with the Lions. He was released as part of roster cuts and signed with the Jets practice squad before being released last week.
OG- Shamarious Gilmore
Gilmore (6-3, 300) was a prospect during the 2022 draft cycle and signed with the Seahawks as an UDFA. He played in the USFL earlier in the year for the Philadelphia Stars.
OT- Isaac Alarcon
Alarcon (6-7, 320) spent time with the Dallas Cowboys as part of the league's International Player Pathway Program. He is from Mexico, and originally signed as an offensive lineman before attempting to switch to defensive tackle. It is unclear exactly what position the Browns are interested in him for but I think it's safe to think offensive line since that appears to be the focus.
These players have length in common by either height or wingspan and one could be added to the practice squad. They could possibly become the next Bill Callahan and Scott Peters project, similarly to the way they developed Tyrone Wheatley Jr. .
