The Cleveland Browns made the dreaded official move today placing running back Nick Chubb on Injured Reserve to make way for the signing of Kareem Hunt. Chubb will miss the remainder of the season after the devastating knee injury he suffered in Pittsburgh on Monday night.

Unfortunately, the magnitude of the injury places the rest of his career in jeopardy as well. This is the second multilligament knee tear in the same knee for Chubb. At the time of the first knee dislocation in college at Georgia there were questions about whether that injury would threaten his football career. Now having a second in the same knee it would be unprecedented to be able to return at the same level.

If anyone could make it a possibility it would be Chubb so I would never count him out. Being nearly a thirty year old running back will, however, stack the odds against him further. Chubb was reportedly in the building on Tuesday in a knee brace and on crutches according to Josina Anderson of CBS Sports.

Anderson is also reporting that in addition to the ligament damage that the meniscus was also damaged in the knee and that it will require multiple surgeries to repair.

We are all wishing the most beloved and productive Cleveland Brown a successful surgery and speedy recovery for his day to day life. His bid to comeback to football is certain to be a grueling and lengthy process and one that I am sure he will exceed all expectations on. Whether his knee will allow him to be a dynamic running back once again is a bigger question.
