Browns Place Michael Dunn on Injured Reserve
The Browns placed G Michael Dunn on injured reserve Tuesday with a calf injury he suffered during the Browns’ win in Week 6 against the 49ers.
Dunn, a four-year veteran, was filling in for All-Pro G Joel Bitonio in the game after Bitonio missed the game with a knee injury. Dunn played through the pain and didn’t miss a snap, which drew praise from head coach Kevin Stefanski.
“He was unbelievable,” Stefanski said. “I mean, the way he fought through his injury, he wouldn’t come out of the game, and you can see it on tape. He was fighting and just in the run game in the pass game. He’s a guy that we trust so much. He’s played well when we put him in there. He’s an awesome teammate, just an all around good person. We’re really pleased that he’s a member of the Browns.”
Stefanski said he hopes to have Bitonio back in practice Wednesday, so Dunn might not have been needed to start in Week 7 against the Colts, but he’ll miss at least the next four games now that he’s been placed on injured reserve.
Backup guard options for the Browns now include Nick Harris and Luke Wypler, who are listed as centers but could play guard if needed. Dawson Deaton is also on the practice squad.
