Cleveland Browns Offensive Line Unit Ranked Among the Best This Season Despite Issues
The Cleveland Browns' offensive line took a step back in 2022 whether it be to injuries or just plain out regression. According to Pro Football Focus, the Browns still had the sixth-best line in football.
This is what PFF had to say about the Browns:
James Hudson, going up against T.J. Watt in Week 18, allowed four pressures, one of which was a sack. Cleveland’s line finished the year ranked sixth as a run-blocking unit and slipped from its best play as the season went on. Best Player: Joel Bitonio. Joel Bitonio finished the season named as a PFF All-Pro at left guard. He allowed one sack all season and earned an 84.5 PFF run-blocking grade. Bitonio is on his way to another Pro Bowl, as well as an All-Pro nod. The Browns locked up Jack Conklin for the foreseeable future. Injuries held Wyatt Teller back in 2022 but he should improve back to himself with an offseason to heal.
Cleveland will have a fifth-year option on left tackle Jedrick Wills Jr. to decide on. Center Ethan Pocic played great in 2022 but is a free agent to come.
The Philadelphia Eagles, Baltimore Ravens, and Green Bay Packers had the top three lines in football according to this metric. Despite the injuries and troubled points in the season, Cleveland operated as one of the better lines in football.
