Denzel Ward Recognized By Hall Of Fame For Achievement

Denzel Ward made history last week against Pittsburgh, and his jersey and gloves now hang in Canton
In this story:

Denzel Ward had a pass breakup last Sunday which etched his name in the NFL record books for the rest of time. His pass breakup was the 10th one of this young season and with it, he became the first NFL player since at least 2000 to have 10 passes defensed and two interceptions in each of his first six seasons.

For this achievement, the Pro Football Hall of Fame is recognizing Ward by hanging his jersey and his gloves from that game in its Pro Football Today gallery. He hangs among Danielle Hunter, Patrick Mahomes and Kyler Murray jerseys that are all on display.

Ward is having a terrific start to this 2023 season. Through 12 weeks he has appeared in 10 games for the Browns and has been a total lockdown guy. To go along with his 10 passes defensed and two interceptions he has 29 tackles and one tackle for loss.

According to Pro Football Focus, he is surrendering a mere 26.8 passer rating when targeted in single coverage this year. That is as elite as it gets for the sixth-year cornerback out of Ohio State.

This year has been one of Ward's best since he has been in the NFL. For the first time in his career, the scheme that he is working in has unlocked his full potential and is tailored exactly to his skillset. He is thriving under Jim Schwartz and is hoping for a big back half of the year.

The Browns defense has been the engine of this team for 12 weeks. They will need to pull this group through the finish line and into the playoffs. Denzel Ward will be a big reason why this team is successful.
