Dolphins' Head Coach Mike McDaniel Confirms Johnny Manziel Watched No Film in Cleveland

Former Cleveland Browns assistant coach Mike McDaniel confirms that "Johnny Football" never watched film while he played in Cleveland.
In this story:

Rumor has it that Johnny Manziel watched "zero" film while he was a Cleveland Brown. Could that have been an exaggerated story for his Netflix Show, "Untold: Johnny Football" or was it the truth?

For those who were fans of the Browns during that time, it certainly appeared that Manziel was unsure of what he was seeing out on the field. In his two years as the Browns signal caller, he compiled a 2-4 record as a starting quarterback (the team was 2-6 in games he played) with 1,675 yards, seven touchdowns, seven interceptions and a 58.6 QBR.

In a recent interview with "The Pivot," Dolphins' current head coach and former Browns assistant coach Mike McDaniel confirmed this rumor.

"I was there, and I was getting the reports of zero [film]. That is real."

Mike McDaniel has been on a meteoric rise through the NFL coaching ranks. The incredibly intelligent 40-year-old has taken a winding road to get to his first head coaching position. Before the Dolphins, he has had stints with the Broncos, Texans, the UFL's California Redwoods, Redskins (Commanders), Browns, Falcons, and 49ers.

He's been around a ton of notable NFL quarterbacks, like Robert Griffin III, Kirk Cousins, Matt Ryan, Jimmy Garoppolo, Brian Hoyer, Tua Tagovailoa ....... and Johnny Manziel.

Almost a decade removed from the Johnny Football experience, it's honestly hard not to laugh at McDaniel's demeanor in this clip. It is so tough to win an NFL football game, but how much tougher is it when your quarterback never watches film?!

What a time that was on the shores of Lake Erie.
