Former Steelers First-Round Pick Visiting With Browns
One team's trash is another team's treasure.
At least that's what the Browns are potentially hoping for as they prepare to host former Steelers first-round pick, linebacker Devin Bush on a free agent visit according to reports. ESPN's Adam Schefter was the first to report the visit. Bush spent last season with Seattle after Pittsburgh opted for not picking up the fifth-year option on his rookie contract.
Bush played 13 games for Seattle last season making 37 tackles, including five for a loss. A once promising career following a rookie season that saw Bush rack up 109 tackles, including one sack and nine tackles for loss to go along with four defensed passes and fumble recoveries and two interceptions fizzled out following an ACL injury in 2020. The Michigan product finished the 2019 season in third place for defensive rookie of the year and Pittsburgh thought it had found its next great linebacker.
Upon returning from the knee injury in 2021 though, Bush was never the same as he struggled in coverage and became a liability on the Steelers defense. That led to Pittsburgh declining his fifth-year option going into the 2022 season as he ultimately became a free and signed with the Seahawks last offseason.
4 Burning Browns Questions As The New League Year Officially Begins
Linebacker represents a need for Cleveland after losing Anthony Walker Jr. and Sionne Takitaki in free agency over the last few days. Bush has been an inside linebacker over the course of his career. The Browns also signed nine-year veteran Jordan Hicks to a one-year deal.
