Garrett Ties Familiar Foe for Impressive Sack Stat
Cleveland Browns defensive end Myles Garrett became tied for the second fastest to reach 80 sacks in the least amount of games played in league history. Garrett recorded his 80th sack in only 88 games, tying a familiar foe for that mark.
As if the argument of who is better between Browns and Steelers fans weren't already contentious enough, we now have another sack record to add to the mix. Garrett tied Steelers edge rusher T.J. Watt for the second fastest to reach the mark.
The only player to do it faster than either of them was the late great Reggie White who accomplished the feat in 71 games. T.J. had previously beaten out his own brother for the previous number two spot, as J.J. Watt accomplished the feat in his 92nd game. He now moves to fourth on the list now that Garrett had the sack yesterday.
Garrett leads the team this year with 5.5 sacks through the first four games and is the organization's all time sack leader. The next closest is Clay Matthews who recorded a total of 62 sacks during his 232 games played with the Browns.
Expect more accolades and milestones to be surpassed by Garrett this season as he benefits from a much improved defensive front for the Browns. Despite yesterday's loss, the team has plenty of games that are winnable left on the schedule.
