Greg Newsome is Set to Return From Groin Injury
Cleveland Browns cornerback Greg Newsome is set to return this week in practice against the Philadelphia Eagles according to a report.
Newsome suffered the groin injury in practice back on August 1st, just days before the Hall of Fame game against the Jets. He was listed as day to day with the injury and the team was patient in getting him back on the field.
A groin injury is often one that could easily be re-aggravated and linger for a significant amount of time. For this reason, the Browns probably always had the goal of him returning to the field this week.
The eagles will provide a huge test to our secondary going against an elite quarterback in Jalen Hurts and what some could argue the best wide receiver duo in the league with A.J. Brown and Devonta Smith. Both receivers had over 1,000 yard seasons and the trio lead a dynamic offense to the Super Bowl last year.
Newsome will certainly see plenty of snaps from the slot but I'd also expect him to be called on to run with Devonta Smith on the outside. It should be a dogfight between the two talented position groups and I would expect plenty of clips from media of them battling it out.
