Injury Updates for Garrett, Ward and Conklin

The Cleveland Browns may have dodged a bullet on Monday during practice with the Eagles. Three key starters left the field with injury concerns but after an initial update from the team it seems that they are nothing major.

Cleveland Browns fans were given quite the scare when three of the team's Pro-Bowl players all left the field with trainers after suffering what we believed at the time were injuries.

The team has announced that defensive end Myles Garrett was dealing with a foot issue, right tackle Jack Conklin was being evaluated for a possible concussion and cornerback Denzel Ward was suffering from illness. All three player left practice in what seemed to be a thirty minute time span.

For Browns fans following along on Twitter/X, the reports of injury were a surreal experience mixed in with reports about how much pressure the defensive line was able to put on Eagles star quarterback Jalen Hurts.

According to many who were in attendance, Garrett came out after practice completely barefoot and signed autographs for fans. He appeared to be in good spirits and completely normal.

Additional sourcing from CBS Sports, NFL insider Johnathan Jones, indicates that both Garrett and Ward will be fine.

If it is indeed a concussion for Conklin, he should have plenty of time to get back before the team's final preseason game against the Kansas City Chiefs in thirteen days. Starters won't play in the preseason game on Thursday night against the Eagles and are getting their work in during these joint practice sessions.

Usually the number one benefit of joint practices and the reason coaches love them so much is because  they are in a controlled environment where plays can be whistled dead faster to avoid unnecessary contact. The Browns have to feel pretty lucky that they seemed to have dodged a bullet today. Hopefully tomorrow's practice provides great work and all players leave the field unscathed for both teams.
