Jerry Jeudy Deal a 'No Risk, High Reward' Move For Browns
There are a lot of factors for teams to consider heading into the 2024 NFL draft. This is the first class of guys who started their collegiate careers in the COVID and post-COVID NCAA world. College careers were six, seven, or even eight-years for some prospects entering the NFL this year.
Deshaun Watson Reacts To Browns Acquiring Jerry Jeudy
One ripple effect of the next rules and the NIL situation in college is that the 2024 NFL draft class is widely regarded as one of the shallowest classes in recent years.
While it is incredibly top-heavy draft with franchise-changing talent that will go on day one and early day 2, the draft prospects fall off a cliff in the later rounds.
For the Browns' they utilized two of their late-round picks to acquire a former first-round talent who is looking for a fresh start in the NFL. Cleveland shipped fifth and sixth round picks to the Broncos on Saturday, to acquire former Alabama wide-receiver Jerry Jeudy.
As Browns general manager Andrew Berry tends to do via the trade market this time of year, this trade is an absolute win for him for a number of reason.
The Browns' number one priority in the 2024 offseason was to find a deep threat to elevate their offense to an entirely new level. One of their first big moves of the offseason was acquiring former Bills offensive coordinator Ken Dorsey, who is known for being incredibly aggressive in the way he attacks the field. Making a move for Jeudy is now the next big move.
Of course Cleveland fans holding out hop that Jeudy can live up to his first round talent and provide some fireworks in Dorsey's offense next season. If it doesn't though, all Cleveland gave up were a couple or late round picks, with no long-term commitment to Jeudy if he doesn't pan out.
It's a true lo risk, high reward deal for the Browns.
