Johnny Manziel Chimes In On Joe Flacco's Success with Browns

Former Cleveland Brown Johnny Manziel jumped into the Joe Flacco conversation Friday afternoon with a post on "X"
In this story:

Johnny Manziel's time in Cleveland didn't go the way that anyone planned. When he was selected with the 22nd overall pick in the 2014 draft many hoped he'd become a savior for the franchise.

Thanks in large part to his own undoing, the success never came to fruition and he finished his career playing only eight games and passing for 1,675 yards which ranks him 31st in Browns history.

Fast forward nearly a decade and the Browns added veteran Joe Flacco late in the 2023 season to try and lead the franchise to the postseason amidst an injury plagued season. He's done more than just that, turning back the clock on his career to ammass 1,616 yards in just five starts. That means he trails Manziel by only 59 yards.

That's a stat Manziel himself couldn't resist cracking a joke at his own expense over. As The Athletic's Jason Lloyd pointed out how close Flacco was to passing the Browns flameout, Manziel responded with a bit of humor, sending the internet into a frenzy.

Some nice self awareness by Manziel amidst a celebratory time in Cleveland thanks to Flacco's incredible run. The Cleveland version of Flacco is unlike any version that we have seen in his career.

He has thrown for over 300 yards in four straight games and has led the Browns to a 4-1 record since taking over the starting position.

His play has unlocked all of his receivers. Amari Cooper is the best wide receiver in the NFL since Flacco joined the team, David Njoku missed an NFL record by 13 yards on Thursday Night and Elijah Moore was getting going before his injury.

This Joe Flacco is exactly what Cleveland needed when they signed him. How much magic we don't know but its impossible not to love the run this group is on.

Unfortunately for Manziel, it appears that he may fall in the Browns' all-time passing list thanks to Joe.
