Myles Garrett Makes His Impact in Crunch Time
Myles Garrett's start of the year was a script that Hollywood could even draw up.
He single-handedly won the Browns game against the Indianapolis Colts, he had a 3.5-sack game against the Tennessee Titans and a huge game in the win against the Baltimore Ravens.
Before flying out West for a two-game stretch between the Broncos and Rams, Garrett was flying high and playing some of his best football.
In Denver, he suffered a shoulder injury and was essentially a non-factor, having only two combined tackles. Next, out in Los Angeles for the first time in his career, Garrett didn't even register a tackle. It was his worst game as a Brown and the Cleveland defense suffered.
Sunday against Jacksonville, Myles was on the same track. He was consistently one step away from making a big play but he wasn't getting home. Through 58 minutes he notched just one solo tackle.
When the Jaguars punched in a touchdown with 1:33 left to go in the game, they trimmed the Browns' lead to four. They decided to go for two instead of an extra point.
The Jaguars dialed up a pass play but Myles Garrett had other thoughts. He beat his man and lined up Trevor Lawrence in his crosshairs. Before Lawrence could release the pass, Garrett wrapped him up and tossed him to the ground ending the Jaguars' chances.
The play Garrett made on the two-point attempt won't get registered as a sack, but it shows you his relentless pursuit of this team's leader. He was having a frustrating day, but when his team needed him most in the 58th minute, he was there and he made the play.
This is just another example of this team's "never quit" attitude from its best player.
