In unexpected news, New York Jets head coach Adam Gase has announced that quarterback Sam Darnold will miss the Monday night game against the Cleveland Browns with mono. This comes as both teams are looking for their first win and each have a difficult pair of games after this one.

The Jets go on to face the New England Patriots and Philadelphia Eagles while the Browns have the Los Angeles Rams and Baltimore Ravens. There's a real risk that the loser of this game could be 1-3 or even 0-4 if they can't get a win here.

In his stead, the Jets will have Trevor Siemien face off against the Browns, which isn't exactly great for their chances to win this game. Meanwhile, this comes as welcome news for the Browns who can use this game to get on track before taking on a brutal pair of games, trying to get everything rolling, so they can be the team so many thought they could be this year.

That said, the Browns failed to take advantage of the fact the Tennessee Titans had a pair of backup offensive linemen in the game, but obviously Sam Darnold is one of the most important players for the Jets chances this season.
